Like many of you, the goals of prevention, early detection and treatment of cardiovascular disease are personal My father suffered a fatal heart attack in 1974. He was just 42 years old. I was 9 years old, and my 5 siblings ranged in age from 3 to 19 years old.
In 1970, my father had open heart surgery when it was still considered “experimental surgery.”
Since then, thanks to research funded largely by the American Heart Association, people with cardiovascular disease are living longer, healthier lives with advancements in stent technology, pharmaceuticals and exercise routines.
We are fortunate to have a dedicated group of community leaders volunteering their time and talents to serve on the 2020 Wilmington Heart and Stroke Ball Executive Leadership Team. Building on the tremendous success of this event the past several years, our goal to raise $550,000 is ambitious and attainable with your support
Thank you for your commitment and contribution!
